» Ukrainian R&D center is working on new titanium processing technologies

Ukrainian company Velta RD Titan, within the TiO2 World Summit in Spain, presented the development of an innovative method for producing titanium dioxide.

The new method, called i-TiO2, which scientists at the center’s R&D are working on, will be an alternative to the sulfate and chloride methods for producing titanium dioxide pigment, which were discovered in the 20th century. Velta RD Titan sees the potential of pigment dioxide as one of the important materials for the Industrial Revolution 4.0. White pigment is the basis for the production of paints, films, plastics, artificial leather and a number of new developments.

“During the rapid technological development, more and more innovators are paying attention to TiO2 products, but the explosive growth of this material requires a significant reduction in the cost of the production process. Our developments will reduce the cost, and thus expand the use of titanium products, both in the classic and innovative markets, “- said Andrew Gonchar, Deputy General Director – Technical Director of Velta RD Titan.

One of the mandatory criteria of i-TiO2 is also the maximum environmental friendliness in production. The development plan with subsequent testing is designed for 3 years.
