In January 2021, the Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property issued a positive decision on VELTA HOLDING US's patent for the production of titanium alloys using company’s own revolutionary technology. The innovative process reduces the cost of alloys and assures a green approach to their production.
This is Velta’s second confirmed patent resulting from a number of applications, prepared and filed in Ukraine and the USA. In October 2020, the company received its first patent for the VeltaTiProcess, a new method of affordable titanium metal production that generates zero waste.
The new patent highlights the possibility of using the VeltaTiProcess to obtain any titanium alloys at a significantly reduced cost – for instance, the most popular Grade 5, which consists of 90% titanium, 4% vanadium, and 6% aluminum. It is used in the aerospace, medical, and aviation industries.
"From now on, we officially produce not only pure titanium, but also its alloys, which means a significant expansion of the future product portfolio. The fast patenting process speaks of the indisputable novelty of the invention", commented Andriy Brodskyy, Velta CEO.
Alloying titanium with other elements gives it additional properties, such as strength and heat resistance, which allows for using titanium as a structural industrial material. Pure titanium, in turn, is used in medicine due to its full biocompatibility.
The technologies patented by Velta do not generate any solid or liquid waste, or emissions of harmful gases into the atmosphere, and have an extremely low carbon footprint.
